That kind stranger contacted Iberville Parish Animal Control, who quickly brought Dobby to safety. The frightened pup was transferred to Bayou Buddies, an animal rescue organization, where she was given the chance to heal and start a new life.

The Road to Recovery

Dobby’s first night at her foster home was a major milestone. After a warm bath, a hearty meal, and a cozy bed, she rested peacefully—perhaps for the first time in her young life. Her foster parents knew she still had a long road ahead of her, but they were determined to provide her with the care and love she needed to recover.

It was discovered that Dobby had demodectic mange, a condition that caused her to lose her fur. With the right medical treatment, nutritious food, and plenty of affection, she slowly began to heal. The scabs on her skin started to fade, her energy levels increased, and soon enough, her beautiful fur began to grow back.

Dobby’s story of survival reached the ears of Greater Good Charities, a global nonprofit dedicated to helping animals and communities in need. Through their emergency medical program, they stepped in to cover the costs of Dobby’s treatment. But they didn’t stop there—Dobby was placed on one of Greater Good Charities’ Good Flights, a life-saving airlift that transported her and other at-risk pets to shelters that had the resources to help them find their forever homes.

Dobby’s journey took her all the way from Louisiana to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in New Jersey. It was here that she would meet her new family and begin the next chapter of her life—a chapter filled with love, joy, and endless cuddles.
