Buckley’s Birthday: From Neglect to Joy

On his birthday, Buckley, a resilient 10-month-old Labrador mix, celebrated a milestone that symbolizes his incredible journey from suffering to joy. His story is a testament to his strength and the compassion of those who rescued and cared for him.

Buckley’s life began in the harshest of circumstances. Abandoned by the side of a New Jersey road, he was found in a deplorable state—severely underweight, with his muzzle cruelly duct-taped shut, leaving painful burn marks. Two weeks ago, Buckley was spotted in a CCSPCA shelter by the dedicated team at One Love Animal Rescue. Recognizing the urgent need for care, they took him in and began the long process of nursing him back to health. The months of neglect had left Buckley dangerously underweight, and he was diagnosed with Lyme disease, heartworm, and mange.

The burn marks around Buckley’s muzzle were the most distressing evidence of his abuse, believed to have been caused by duct tape. Yet, even in the face of such cruelty, Buckley remained a gentle and affectionate pup, capturing the hearts of everyone who met him.
