For Ashley Boggs, a long-time dog rescuer, saving dogs is more than a mission; it’s a calling. One day, while driving down a forest road in Puerto Rico, Ashley encountered a scene that would change many lives forever. A helpless, brown canine was stopping cars and begging for help, her actions pleading with anyone who would listen. Unlike other strays that typically hide or wander aimlessly, this particular dog seemed desperate to convey an urgent message.
A Mother’s Plea for Help
When Ashley stepped out of her car, she discovered that the dog was a nursing mother, later named Goji, who was desperately seeking help for her newborn puppies. Abandoned in the woods without food or water, Goji was doing everything in her power to keep her family alive. Fortunately, Ashley, who works for Miracles for Satos Rescue (MFSR) in New York, arrived just in time to be their hero.
The Rescue Mission
Upon closer inspection, Ashley found two other pups hiding nearby. All three dogs were friendly and easily secured in her car. However, Ashley heard more puppy cries coming from the woods and knew she had to investigate further. After a thorough search, she found four additional puppies near the box they had been dumped in. With great care and determination, Ashley managed to secure all seven dogs in her car, ensuring their immediate safety.
A New Beginning for the Berry Family
Once at the MFSR facility, Goji and her pups received the care they desperately needed. They were all hungry and in dire need of a fresh start, which they soon got. MFSR is an organization dedicated to saving and transporting dogs from Puerto Rico to New York, helping them find forever homes. The puppies, now named Raspberry, Blueberry, Gooseberry, Cloudberry, Blackberry, and Strawberry, began socializing with other dogs and learning basic manners in their foster home.
Goji: The Heart of the Family
Goji, the loving mother, had no trouble adapting to her new surroundings. She quickly became known for her affectionate nature. “She is the absolute best dog. She loves every dog and person that she meets. She loves rubs and cuddles and will even do tricks for treats,” the MFSR team wrote on their Facebook page. Goji’s favorite place in the world became the lap of her favorite person, and she quickly earned the status of a volunteer favorite for her sweet and joyful demeanor.
A Happy Ending
Not long after their rescue, the entire Berry family found their forever homes. Once abandoned and left to fend for themselves, these adorable furballs are now enjoying life in their new, loving homes. Goji, who once had to worry about her family’s safety, can now relax and bring joy to everyone she meets.
