Wile E. Coyote had been at the Louisiana SPCA for a few weeks when his birthday finally came around. A calm and laid-back dog most days, no one expected this birthday would be anything but peaceful — until Wile E. Coyote received his special birthday gift.
On the morning of his birthday, the shelter staff decided to surprise Wile E. with something cozy—a brand-new pillow. Little did they know, the fluffy present would turn his special day into one to remember. Unbeknownst to anyone, Wile E. discovered that his birthday pillow was stuffed with feathers, and he saw it as the perfect opportunity to redecorate his kennel.
That evening, when the shelter staff left for the night, Wile E. got busy. By the time they returned the next morning, the scene that greeted them was unbelievable. Feathers were strewn all over the room, covering every inch of his kennel and even finding their way into every corner. It was as though Wile E. had hosted his own birthday party, complete with a confetti explosion!
“The pillow was perfectly intact when we left, but by morning, it was like a feather tornado had hit,” recalled Jessyca Sulfsted, the shelter’s marketing and communications manager.
While the shelter team couldn’t believe the mess, Wile E. Coyote seemed to have no regrets about his epic birthday surprise. He sat proudly amid the chaos, looking as though he was saying, “10/10 would do it again!”
Though it took multiple efforts to clean up the mess, feathers are still being found in odd places around the shelter. Wile E.’s birthday may have ended with a major cleanup, but it also served as a reminder of his fun-loving and mischievous spirit.
Now, as he looks for his forever home, Wile E. is hoping for a family who will love his playful side but maybe steer clear of feathers for his next birthday. Until then, he’s happy knowing that he made his special day one for the books — a birthday filled with joy, excitement, and more feathers than anyone could have imagined.
