A Birthday to Remember
Toad recently celebrated her birthday, a day filled with joy and reflection for everyone at Mutt Misfits. The celebration was a reminder of how far she’s come and the battles she’s fought. The team decorated the rescue center with balloons and streamers, making sure Toad felt like the queen she is. A special dog-friendly cake was baked, complete with peanut butter frosting and Toad’s name written in bright colors. Her favorite toys were laid out, and she spent the day surrounded by love and affection from her human and canine friends.

Toad’s role in Mutt Misfits goes beyond her endearing quirks. She is the glue that holds Heather, our rescue founder, together. Heather has dedicated her life to saving dogs and navigating the relentless challenges of hefty vet bills. Through it all, Toad has been by her side, offering comfort and companionship. Toad’s presence is a daily reminder of why we do what we do – to give dogs like her a chance at a better life.

Despite the complexities of her condition, Toad enjoys a good quality of life. Her extra mouth, while growing and occasionally causing nerve interference, rarely leads to fits of pain. However, it can cause temporary blindness, adding another layer to her care. Yet, Toad’s spirit remains unbroken. She navigates her world with a blend of curiosity and courage, inspiring everyone she meets.
